Hi Family and Friends!!!!
this week was just a miraculous week!!!!! Heavenly Father double our teaching pool!!! We prayed so hard for new investigators and referrals and I have learned that when we are obedient and when we work hard Heavenly Father will always provide:) He helped us reach almost all of our goals!!!!!! Woohooo!!!!!
Sister Andruski was sick for a couple days so we stuck inside for 2 days. While she was sleeping and recovering I studied....a lot!!!! Heavenly Father answered a lot of questions and helped me have an eternal perspective:) That time i had to study and ponder was a wonderful experience for me...even though i was going a little crazy. Its hard to relax when there is so much work to do and when its all you do everyday! Lets just say we both had itchy feet to start teaching the gospel again:)
We started our with 2 investigators: Issaiah and Brandy! Issaiah is 16 years old who tries to act like a punk but he LOVES the gospel!!!! It is so fun to see Christ change his life:) The first time he prayed opened my eyes to how people really feel. Sometimes they dont know that God is a loving Heavenly Father. Heavenly Father loves all of his children and He wants them to know that. How can you help someone know that Heavenly Father loves them?
Brandy is a sweet and sassy 10 year old! Her mom is a member but Brandy doesn't have a christian background at all....its been hard to teach her but we do our best to help her. Baptism scares her so we get to help her understand who God is and His plan for us (the plan of salvation). We need to help her see the gospel is simple. Is the gospel simple in our lives? Sometimes it is and sometimes its not. What can you do to make the gospel more simple in your life?
Heavenly Father blessed us with 2 more investigators!!!! Lily and Janice!!!!!!
Lily is 17 years old who we met on the street! We felt like we needed to go to a members house to ask for referrals but they weren't home....as we were walking to our car Lily was walking to her house. We started to talk to her and testify of the restoration and asked if we could come and teach her. She said yes! Wooohoooo!!!! her family is from Vietnam but she grew up in the states. She doesnt have a religious background at all so we get to start from square 1!!!! Sometimes thats easier:) She is going to come to young women activity tonight!!!! Woohooo!!!!!
Janice is a 50ish year old lady who has meet with the missionaries before but she wasnt quite ready for the gospel yet. Then we knocked on her door and she was so excited that we came to teach her! She said she is searching for something to "fill her cup" and the first thought that came to mind was "well, your cup will be filled real soon!!!!!!" She loves having lessons and she is thinking about getting baptized! We are so excited!!!!:)
This area, evergreen, is really small. Not a lot of people open their doors to listen to the message of the Christ because they think we are just another american church. I wish they would give us a chance to testify that this is not just an American Church, it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are a part of the Church Christ organized and taught during His ministry. This Gospel can bless their lives but they dont know that. That is why we all have to share the gospel with people. It is selfish to hold it in. So i invite all of you to make a plan to introduce the gospel to people.
1. make a list of people who are not members
2. pray about who you need to focus on
3. come up with ideas of how to introduce
example: Chruch, Family Home evening, dinner, movie night and watch 17 Miracles, Give them a Book of Mormon. a pass along card, anything that will help them feel the Spirit. It doesnt have to be big things (if you need any supplies ask the missionaries)
4. pick dates of when you want to do those things
5. Bring the non members to church.
This is how you can be a missionary, just be friends! If you are thinking "i dont have any nonmember friends" well make nonmember friends! Heavenly Father has a great work that needs to be done and He knows that each of us has the potential to help others. I know that he cares and that He loves each of you. Dont ever forget that!!!!
Doctrine and Covenants 61:3 But verily I say unto you, that it is not needful for this whole company of mine elders to be moving swiftly upon the waters, whilst the inhabitants on either side are perishing in unbelief.
(ps I know this seems like just another "do missionary work" email BUT you can either take action or just blow it off....its all up to you:)
LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!! Have a great week:)

Sister Empey
